Marusagar Express mishap: Railway Department cancels license of contractors
Kasargod: In relation to the serving of stale food in Marusagar Express plying from Ajmer to Ernakulam, the Railway Department has ordered to temporarily cancel the license of the contractors associated with the food and its distribution.
A catering centre functioning from Rajasthan as its base had been assigned the contract to serve food to the railway pantry. The department has now called for the cancellation of the contract on a temporary basis.
The rotten food has been sent to an analytical lab in Calicut. Meanwhile, the Railway Food Safety Department has decided to send the collected samples either to the lab in Mysore or Hyderabad.
It may be recollected that more than 50 passengers travelling in the Marusagar Express on August 17 had fallen ill due to the food served in the train.
